Are you excited to see Selena Gomez slay again on Hulu's OMITB season 2?

The entertainment business is unpredictable. You never know what might work and what might not. But more than often we have seen the oddest teams work the best on screen, and Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” is no different. From the get-go the show has intrigued the audience, everyone wanted to watch Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez trio work their magic in the comedy (with mystery sprinkled all over) series. Without any doubt, Short and Martin are legends in the category but all I wanted to see was what was gonna happen when you throw in The Wizards of Waverly Place actress into the mix.

Selena Gomez might be one of the most loved and recognized pop artists of the last decade but she is no one-trick pony. From mesmerizing us with her amazing music to making us laugh as Alex Russo in the show “The Wizards of Waverly Place” to cooking lip-smacking dishes in Selena + Chef she has done it all. So I tuned in to see how she fared against two on-screen legends who shared the screen with her. And she did not disappoint. Her performance was nothing short of brilliant.

Don’t get me wrong, when I first heard about the plot of the show it did not sound “original” to me. I know I may sound a bit harsh but let’s summarize the plot of the show. Our three protagonists live in the same apartment complex where a murder takes place. Now our heroes are certain the cops are not seeing the full picture so they decided to team up. The trio in their search for truth decide to start their own podcast and decide to give live reactions to the investigation. Yeah, I will let that sink in!

Now, what if I tell you this show is a must-watch! No, I’m not trying to mess with you guys, this is really a must-watch show. It’s the sheer performance of all the three actors that make this show so fun to watch. Steve Martin and Martin Short are as witty as ever and their comic timing remains sharper as ever but the x-factor of this show is Selena Gomez. Selena’s portrayal of a woman of mystery is what makes this show a must-watch. And now with Selena Gomez slaying it with her acting skills the show will keep you stuck to your screens.

Kudos to the writers of the show as well as took a lot into account while writing the script. A hit show is the result of a team effort and this is exactly what’s to be seen here. The writers very smartly positioned Mabel (Selena Gomez) next to Charles ( Steve Martin) for the majority of the show. A simple explanation for this could be that the writers feared that the combined experience of Martin and Short could overshadow Selena on the screen. So they came up with a plan where the one-on-one time between Selena Gomez and Steve Martin slowly builds up the narrative of the story. And also with not overcrowding every scene, Selena had the chance to shine as Mable with her impeccable performance.

With season 2 of “Only Murders in the Building” already on its way, it will be really interesting to watch where it takes Selena Gomez. We all want Selena to grow as an actor especially when she’s portraying such a complex character as Mabel. A character with so many layers can be difficult to portray but till now Selena has not disappointed us. Every actor makes any character their own by mixing a little bit of them in the character. So I’m fascinated to watch Mabel who is smart, introverted, and hiding her past trauma with a dash of quirky Selena Gomez on top.

Selena Gomez’s inclusion in this show might just be a stunt to get more eyeballs but she surely amazed everyone with her performance. So what do you think about the show? Do you think “Only Murders in the Building” will return for a third season? Let us know in the comments.
