Chris Rock is seriously milking the 'slap incident' and everyone has had enough!

Oscars 2023 was an absolute banger, the award ceremony was very entertaining to watch. And this time around the Oscars were under the limelight and you know why. The infamous slap by Will Smith at Chris Rock is still fresh in everyone’s mind, mainly because Chris Rock wouldn’t shut up about it. Well, that’s not totally true, many were making jokes about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. And the funniest moments of Oscars 2023 were when Jimmy Kimmel was cracking hilarious jokes about the infamous incident. And Chris Rock has not shied away from talking about the slap, and now it feels like that’s all he talks about.

If you guys are not aware Chris Rock has a full-on Netflix special called “Selective Outrage”. Yes, Chris Rock has an entire Netflix special where he talks about Will Smith and the infamous slap incident. And it was not a light roast either, Chris went full ham on the special. When I was watching his Netflix special, I felt like Chris was switching between roast and rant. Chris made sure his 68-minute-long special lived up to its name “Selective Outrage” because there was enough outrage in his live show to go around the entire auditorium.

Chris Rock sure took his sweet time talking about the slap and addressed the incident in many ways. I thought the lightest jab Chris took in his special was the bit about Snoop Dogg. The comedian said, “I can’t go dissing Snoop. The last thing I need is another mad rapper”. If this was the lightest jab you can only imagine how brutal Chris Rock would have gotten when he let it all out. He mostly went all out during the end of the special.

After the incident, many asked Chris Rock why he didn't try to defend himself, and now Chris was ready with his reasons. Chris touched on the fact that Will Smith has a size advantage over him. He went on to say, “Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. He does movies with his shirt off! You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off. If I’m in a movie getting open heart surgery, I got on a sweater. Will Smith play Muhammed Ali in a movie! Do you think I auditioned for that part? I played Pookie in ‘New Jack City’. Even in animation, he’s bigger: I’m a zebra, he’s a shark.”

It seemed like he did spend a lot of time thinking about what he wanted to say and how he wanted to do so. And I can understand why he would want to do so, what happened to him was not right. But now it sure feels like he is milking it. Wherever he appears he will find a way to bring the incident up in one way or the other. And that’s exactly what he did when he went on to pay tribute to Adam Sandler who is this year’s recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Everyone was waiting for a heartfelt tribute from Chris Rock as he and Adam Sandler worked on successful films like Grown ups but even at that time, Chris took his time to roast Will Smith. One of the attendees there was Paul Pelosi who was attacked by an intruder with a hammer. When Chris Rock spotted Paul Pelosi in the crowd he said, “Paul Pelosi, the only guy who knows how I felt. Just me and you, Just me and you, babe.”

This is exactly when the internet said enough. Chris Rock compared his slap at the Oscars to a very serious situation, and the netizens collectively think it was a trash joke to make. I mean Paul Pelosi was hit with a hammer and had to go under surgery. The netizens sure feel Chris should move on from the incident. We have had another Oscars since that and it has been a year since it happened so I guess the netizens are right. Chris Rock should stop milking the Oscars slap incident. But what do you think, comment down below?
