How did "Spotify Pie" become the hottest pie in town?

In this era where social media rules the netizens are not raving about granny’s apple pie but they all want the Spotify Pie. But you cannot eat a slice of the Spotify Pie. No, I have not lost it. Spotify Pie is actually a new website that has taken the internet by storm. Spotify Pie capitalizes on the social media user’s severe urge of sharing what music they are listening to, much like Spotify Wrapped. But before moving forward let’s have a look at the creator of this app first.

What exactly is a Spotify Pie?

Spotify Pie is a web-based app that shows users their favorite artists and music genres in a colorful pie chart. Yeah, that’s all, the web-based app will analyze your Spotify listening and then organize it into a pie chart of all the genres you have listened to that month. And like I mentioned before the pie chart will also list your top artists of the month.

In my opinion, Spotify added to Darren’s success significantly. I always loved how Spotify categorizes their songs very specifically, like “deep underground hip hop” really! Whoever is in charge of categorizing songs on Spotify is a genius but more on him later. Spotify Pie capitalizes on Spotify’s impeccable categorization of songs and gives its users a highly shareable pie chart.

Netizens are very bored and have a lot of time on their hands, that’s why it got so viral! Just kidding. Everyone on the web is always eager to share the latest music genre they are into or share their new favorite artist. That’s why Spotify Wrapped was so successful but the wait is 6 months long before another Spotify Wrapped so what to do now? In comes, Spotify Pie, and netizens went berserk. Twitter users have been sharing their Spotify pies like there’s no tomorrow. It doesn’t end here, many are calling out other’s top artists.

But how do I use Spotify Pie?

To get your Spotify Pie you will first need to access it from Darren Huang’s website. After you are signed into your Spotify account, enable your app’s access to your listening history. That’s it. Huang’s app will take it from there and will “bake” a Spotify Pie for you. Take a screenshot and share it on social media.

Darren Huang after finishing the website shared it with a few of his friends but he never imagined it would go viral. Actually, Huang started this project to learn and get comfortable with a programming language but little did he know this project was gonna change his life forever. After the website got a serious social media buzz it got featured in Yahoo and USA Today and went international with news publications in Europe and Australia also picking up the story.
