Is Wednesday's Jenna Ortega on her way to becoming the next Latin sensation?

Netflix has given us yet another record-breaking hit show and this time it comes to us on Wednesday. The show is really worth a watch but what got this show the eyeballs it deserved was how seriously the show took Latin representation. The audience and the cast both agreed the show took a huge leap in showing diverse characters in the media.

Wednesday’s cast has also gotten quite the love from the audience and Jenna Ortega may be on her way to be the next big Latin sensation. It is not just her portrayal of Wednesday Addams that has gotten her so many fans, it’s also the personal stories that she shared while being on various shows that people connect to. My personal favorite is when she talked about the importance of Latino representation in the media while appearing on Taste Buds.

Jenna Ortega appeared on Taste Buds along with her co-star Luis Guzman. Luis Guzman plays Gomez Addams, Wednesday’s father in the show. Both Guzman and Ortega came on the show to share some of their absolute favorite Mexican and Puerto Rican dishes, and conversations with a plate of tacos are always amazing. Guzman asked Ortega how did she feel about playing a Latina on screen, to which Jenna Ortega replied how special it was for her to play a Latina on screen, primarily because she didn't have much Latin representation on screen while growing up.

We always try to relate to someone and that is what was missing. She even added to that story saying when she was 5 she asked her mother for a box of blonde hair dye. Jenna Ortega wanted to dye her hair blonde so she could look like Cinderella for her fifth birthday. That is why I personally think we should have more Latin representation in the media so that Latin children can have someone to relate to.

Apart from all the personal stories that people can connect to and adore, she also has one more thing going for her. The audience already knows how good a performer she is. Wednesday is not the first we have seen of Jenna Ortega. She got many fans from her roles in movies X and Scream. No, she was not part of the original Scream but she was cast in the revival of the film that was released in 2022. And rumor has it that she might also be a part of Scream 6 which is set to release in 2023. So there is no doubt she is talented and can deliver a great performance on screen, all she needed was the right platform to showcase her talent.

Tim Burton has given the platform Jenna Ortega needed to shine. In Tim Burton's directed Wednesday Jenna Ortega plays the protagonist who can be best described as darkly endearing. The entire cast was incredible and all of their powerful performances helped the show to break the record for most minutes watched in the debut week. This title previously belonged to Stranger Things season 4 but Wednesday now has a firm grip on the title. Although the entire cast performed really well, the audience was deeply moved by Jenna Ortega. But Wednesday was also heavily praised for its approach towards Latin and black characters. And certainly, if Jenna Ortega keeps delivering such powerful performances then there is no doubt she will be the next Latin sensation.
