Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they need privacy and did the complete opposite

Everyone is entitled to their privacy, even celebrities. So if a celebrity wants to be left alone in peace or doesn’t want the whole world to see their most intimate moments then being a part of civil society should respect their wishes. But what if the celebrity was being hypocritical about it? For example, a celebrity cannot preach privacy after inviting Netflix to document their lives. Are you getting who am I hinting at? If you are thinking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then you are absolutely right.

Prince Harry is not your everyday run-of-the-mill celebrity, and after Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry, she too shares the same level of celebrity-ship. Sometimes I wonder if the contradicting nature just comes with being a monarch. Nothing is simple when it comes to the Royal Family. Now coming to Prince Harry himself nothing is as simple as it looks. He had every right to protect his privacy considering how brutal the media was in pursuing his mother. And it’s no surprise the couple even went to court for their right to privacy.

You might think going to court might be going a little too far when dealing with some nosey paparazzi things were much more serious than that. The intrusions were of a very serious nature and the court of law sentenced some of them with pricey settlements. Like the chopper ride by a picture agency that forced the Sussexes to flee because of security reasons. Just imagine you have to flee your own house just because someone wants to get some snaps to put on the paper. The media houses did not just stop there. The Mail on Sunday published a private letter to Meghan’s father which is a gross violation of someone’s privacy. The media house was found guilty of breach of privacy and paid a hefty price. MailOnline had multiple tussles with the royals and paid dearly for it. One such incident was when Prince Harry used the UK press regulator, Ipso to remove some intrusive photos that were published by MailOnline taken on a private brace in Jamaica.

Everyone values their privacy and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no exception. But the couple opened themselves up for criticism when they decided to talk about their relationship and all the incidents that followed after they met in 2016 to Netflix. But the couple responded to the criticisms and cited that it’s their right to tell their own story and they can do it on their own terms. Honestly, I do agree with the couple at a certain level.

But most people agreed that if you want to share your privacy then maybe making a documentary about your life is not the brightest idea. They can definitely claim privacy when they are in their own home or on a private beach but once Netflix has access to different aspects of your relationship then the traditional expectations of privacy don’t hold much value.

This is where things get contradicting. Media houses have intruded on Prince Harry’s life to the point where he had to knock on the doors of the court. But does that mean Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't have the right to tell their side of the story? So, they told their story through Netflix, should they be criticized for the whole thing? What is your thought on it, comment down below.
