This is historic! Oscars has changed their red carpet to champagne carpet?

Some things in the world never change. Like the color of the sky, which will always be blue, the color of grass which will always be green and the Oscars red carpet will always be red. Or will it? It turns out nothing is constant in this world and the world as we know it is going to change forever. Yes, the Oscars red carpet will no longer be red anymore rather it will now be champagne colored.

This is a huge change, for the first time in over six decades, the Oscars red carpet will not be red. Jimmy Kimmel, who will be hosting this year’s Academy Awards, even joked about why the change in colors. While for Jimmy it might be a joke but I don’t think we can rule out the theory completely. Jimmy believes it was the infamous incident that happened last year that prompted the change. If you are wondering what incident I am talking about then you should YouTube Chris Rock and Will Smith and see for yourself. One thing is for sure, Will Smith was seeing red.

Well, I’m glad people can joke about the incident now but last year it was a whole different scenario. Things got heated up all of the sudden and there was a lot of tension in the air. The tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife. But after a year the memories of the incident have mellowed out and Jimmy Kimmel even joked around saying, “I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows just how confident we are that no blood will be shed.”

All kidding aside, the whole reason behind the color of the carpet being changed from red to champagne is the organizers wanted the rug to be mellow. More exactly, the organizers wanted it to be like a beach at sunset. Although it is the latest trend for galas, premiers, and award ceremonies to flaunt their colorful carpets. The Emmys flaunt their gold rug while the Golden Globe proudly flaunt their elegant gray rug and how can we forget the purple carpet from the world-premier of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Steve Olive is the president of Event Carpet Pros. This is the company that has manufactured the infamous red carpet for the Oscars for more than 20 years. The Oscars are not the only event Steve Olive is a part of he has been a part of huge events like the Emmy Awards, the Grammy awards, the Golden Globes, and countless movie premiers. And regarding the color change of the red carpet he had this to say,” every year, a new color will be a hot color.” Now, what could he possibly mean by that? Does that mean every year there will be a new color for the Oscars rug? I mean from an event management point of view a different color every year might help in making each year’s Oscars more unique and memorable.

While the organizers of the Academy Awards chose the Champagne color to give the event a more mellow and soothing feel, the contrast was also kept in mind when they tried to tie up the whole thing together. The champagne-colored rug was paired up with the sienna color tends to give it a feel of the ‘golden hour’ at the beach. It surely is a historical moment with the Academy Awards changing the red carpet which has been associated with the identity of the award ceremony for this long. So, do you think we will see any more historical changes this year? Comment down below.
