top-5-christmas-movies-of-all-time

Christmas is a lot of things to a lot of people – from sipping hot chocolate by the fireplace, opening gifts under the decorated tree, a big fat family dinner together, kissing under the mistletoe…the list just goes on and on. There is one thing common in all these Christmas traditions – making memories with your family. In the spirit of snuggling up with your loved ones on this heck of a Holiday, let’s take a jolly ride and recollect the classic Christmas movies that’s a must-watch for every new generation.

  • Home Alone

Regardless of the aftermath of this movie in Macaulay Culkin’s life, this one’s an all-time favourite. For those of you who haven’t watched it yet – which is quite impossible unless you’re born after the 2000s, in which case I’m sorry for the quality of cinema your generation has to go suffer through – here’s a quick recap anyway: An eight-year-old boy named Kevin is left behind when his family forgets him and jets off to Paris. While his family (parents of the year) desperately scramble to get back to the U.S., a couple of dumb wit burglars try to break in to Kevin’s home, unknown of how smart Kevin actually is. Through a series of hilarious encounters between the burglars and Kevin, the little boy manages to not only keep them at bay, but also teach them a lesson with the aid of skilfully crafted cut-outs and a random tarantula.

  • It’s a Wonderful Life:

Yes, it’s a black and white movie… but it manages to splash more colors to the viewer’s time than the modern-day garbage the current streaming services try to pass off as movies. This is one of those classics that didn’t perform great at the box office but has proven to be timeless, and only garners more fan following with passing time.

The plot revolves around George Bailey, who’s a local businessman who doesn’t seem to realize his life’s value. He’s shown what life would be like without his contribution in his little community by a guardian angel. After taking a look at the positive impact he has had on the townspeople, he lives a life of gratitude and gives himself the credit he deserves. The message of the movie is one of love and gratitude – isn’t that what Christmas is all about?

  • The Snowman:

This is an animated movie that works wonders on hyperactive children who refuse to calm down. The soothing music works like a charm if you’re trying to put your little one down for a nap. Apart from this parenting trick, the movie is a classic to watch on Christmas eve. It takes place in a magical world that looks like winter wonderland, the aesthetics is a hands-down winner in this list.

  • Die Hard:

The debate is never-ending… is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Well. May be not in its traditional sense, and also you may wanna keep the kids out of this one, but a big chunk t of its male audience argue that it’s one of the best Christmas movies ever. For starters, the terrorist in the movie is dressed as Santa throughout, and you get to see numerous Christmas trees in the backdrop. Also, good wins over evil which is the ultimate Christmas message there is.

  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Surely this movie makes the top-Christmas-movies-of-all-time list for the simple reason that Chevy Chase is the star of the show? No? Well, what about the fact that this Griswold Christmas movie delivers on the goofball, slapstick front like no other? In every scene someone falls through a ceiling, off a roof or sets fire to something in a disastrous fashion. Typically, the Griswolds try desperately hard to make a perfect Christmas for their family and inevitably, as every other National Lampoon movie proves, the harder you try the worse the day turns out.

Choose your pick and enjoy a snuggly, comfy, and warm Christmas bingeing on these classic flicks. If you got anymore suggestions, drop them in the comments below and help uplift other’s Christmas time.
